Information Technology Management Reform Act of – Wikipedia
This public law was intended to authorize appropriations for fiscal year for military activities of the Department of Defense, for military construction, and for defense activities of the Department of Energy, to prescribe personnel strengths for such fiscal year for the Armed Forces, to reform acquisition laws and information technology management of the Federal Government, and for other purposes. The law requires each agency head to establish clear accountability for IT management activities by appointing an agency Chief Information Officer CIO with the visibility and management responsibilities necessary to carry out the specific provisions of the Act. Each agency head is expected to select and position a CIO to ensure the effective acquisition and use of IT and to carry out the agency’s information resources management responsibilities.
The Act emphasizes an integrated managemejt of technology aimed at efficiently performing the business of the Department.
